Disinfection
Disinfection systems treat water to inactivate pathogenic microorganisms and render the water completely safe for drinking and domestic use.
The call for a higher log reduction for recycled water use has called for a combined multi system. UV systems are exceptionally useful in treating protozoan cysts such as giardia and cryptosporidium, while Ozone and Chorination are most effective against viruses and bacteria.
Total disinfection processes available include use of:

- Calcium hypochlorite
- UV (Trojan enclosed or open channel design)
- Ozone
- Chloramine
- Chlorine dioxide
Disinfection systems are able to be fully automated in response to both plant flow rate and a measured parameter, usually free of chlorine residual.
