Water supply essentially untreated (stabilisation and disinfection only) and not consistently meeting ADWG. Giardia/Cryptosporidium contamination risk.

Aquatec Maxcon provided all mechanical works for the complete water treatment plant which comprised of the following main elements:

  • Inlet works from Karangi Dam including raw water pump station and surge vessel.
  • Pre treatment equipment for Mn oxidation contact tank, PAC contact tank and flash mixer stages.
  • Flocculation mixing equipment.
  • Dissolved Air Flotation/Filtration (DAFF) equipment (3 train system) including recycle pumping, saturation and dispersion system, float skimmers, filter media, plenum underdrains, backwash and air scour systems.
  • Ultraviolet disinfection system, in pipe reactor design.
  • Treated water pump station.
  • Wastewater handling system including washwater balance tank, gravity sludge thickener and centrifuge mechanical dewatering.
  • Service water and compressed air ancillary systems.
  • Chemical storage and dosing systems for hydrated lime, CO2, PAC, alum, coagulant aid, filter aid, caustic soda and potassium permanganate.
  • Fluoridation and chlorination systems.
