The Canungra STP Upgrade was officially opened by Queensland Urban Utilities' (QUU) CEO, Ian Maynard, and the Scenic Rim Mayor, Cr. John Brent, on Saturday April 14th, 2012.
The Canungra STP was designed, constructed and commissioned by the Aquatec Maxcon Group. The opening of the plant has increased the capacity of the existing sewage treatment plant to meet local area growth. A completely automated plant which can be operated unmanned, Canungra STP has significantly improved the effluent quality flowing into the creek. The plant is designed to produce Total Nitrogen of less than 5mg/L and phosphate of less than 1mg/L.
Aquatec Maxcon designed the plant using a combination of new equipment and the refurbishment of existing structures to minimise the costs and deliver the project on time for QUU. The process technologies used in the plant include Aquatec Maxcon's proprietary Diffused Aeration 'AquaBlade' and Kubota's flat sheet Membrane Bioreactor modules.
The project clearly demonstrates the Aquatec Maxcon Group's ability to deliver a complete solution for the wastewater treatment plants in the region.
